生活就像河流，与每个人发生着种种关联与影响。我们有时在岸边遥望;有时在船上划水;有时在河中游泳;有时潜入河底寻找沉没已久的秘密。生命也像河流，在每个人心中流淌，有时湍急;有时平稳;有时水波不兴;有时暗流涌动。
生活河流我们可以看⻅，顺流逆流循环往复;生命河流藏于我们体内，无人知晓踪迹难寻。生活河流与生命河流交汇之时，生命河流的痕迹方能显现，我们只有通过生活中的一些人一些事才能更好地了解真实的自己，而这部作品便是山浮士多对生活河流的记录与对生命河流的探寻。
"die Spur des Flusses" is the continuation of "was der Fluss sagte" and we can better understand our true self only through some people and things in our lives, and this work is our record of the river of life and our exploration of the river of life.
